Bowdie

bowdie-and-me.jpgToday Bowdie went with his lucky new family!

We are so happy for him but already miss him around the house.

Yesterday Bowdie went to work with me, went home and had lunch and a nap and then we went for a nice walk.  While on our walk I was thinking about how far he’d come.  When he first came to our house and we did that walk, he’d get a little nervous about cars and noises and such.  Yesterday he just strutted along like he owned the trail!

I am so happy for Bowdie and his family.  They are getting a true loyal companion and he in turn is going to be very happy and very spoiled!

We’ll miss you Bowdie!  Thanks for having us as your foster family!

Bowdie continues to do really well with us.  When he first came here, he was a bit nervous on our walks.  Now he walks with his head held high and his tail pointed straight out.  He knows our walking routine now.  We have the usual dogs we see during our walk.  He happily says hello to them and to anyone else we may see along the way, even the neighborhood cats!  Every time we get home from a walk he runs up to the car, hoping for a ride somewhere.  He loves car rides.  He’s such a happy boy.  What he enjoys more than anything is to just be with his people.  He loves being in the house curled up in his bed or laying at my feet, which is where he is right this very moment as I type this.

Lucky for Bowdie his arms are long so getting up to get the toy isn’t necessary…just stretch out those arms!

Bowdie got a treat and was happily chewing away in the yard when the cat decided to stalk Bowdie.  It didn’t take long for him to lose interest in the cat and get back to the treat!

He’s doing great!!!  He’s made lots of trips with us to Red Bluff where his foster grandparents live.  This past weekend he finally stepped into the pool all by himself and was enjoying the cooling off.  He’s very attached to me, his foster mom, and my nickname for him is “my shadow”.  He really likes the company of fellow dog friends.  He likes the cat but she just won’t play with him and I know he wishes she would.  He very happily had a bath today.  He just stands so nicely while being bathed and doesn’t try to get away.  His brown is so super shiney now and his white so very white!  He absolutely loves to be towel dried!  He gets so excited and just runs in and out of the towel.  I’ll get some new pictures posted soon.  He seriously dodges the camera every time he sees it so he’s hard to get good pictures of…unless he’s sleeping.  Bowdie is such a sweet companion.  He’s happy tagging along wherever you go.  He loves going out for walks and welcomes the attention and pets from the people we meet.  He’s gotten along wonderfully with all the other dogs we’ve met, big and small.  I do think he’d enjoy a home with another dog friend.

This past weekend we went up to Red Bluff to Bowdies foster grandparents house.  He met his foster cousin, a GSP/English pointer mix, Sadie, for the first time.  They got along great.   Here they were watching the buffalo come down the hill…from a distance of course!
