Freckles
Freckles is getting settled in.
We have had Freckles for two days now. So far, she has made the transition from shelter to foster home seamlessly. Her eager-to-please and affectionate personality is delightful, despite that she is still recovering from her spay surgery. Freckles seems to understand boundaries when given them. She responded nicely to “down,” when she tried to jump up. With focus, she also responds to basic commands, like stay, sit, go, and back. Although, she could use refining and practice.
Freckles has been a great second dog. She is friendly and affectionate to our children, who are 6 and 4. She has had not had any issues with our 80 lb. Shepherd mix, Lady. And has been friendly and relaxed, never nervous, fearful or tense. Because of her surgery, we haven’t been able to take her out to exercises or play. But she has enjoyed watching the outside from an open back door, waiting for something interesting to occur.
Toys seem very exciting to Freckles. When she’s not playing with them or trying to engage us in a game, she carries them around the house and spreads them in various areas (especially if I’ve just put them away). Her favorite toys seem to be balls and squeaky toys! Freckles does not seem to be possessive over her toys. In fact, she has immediately let go of whatever is in her mouth, when we go to take it, including a snack bag that Freckles discovered in our 6 year old’s jacket. She displays this same behavior with Lady when Lady tries to engage her in a game of tug-o-war. We have found that this attribute is excellent for families with young children!
Here is picture of Freckles. It is adorable. I wish the resolution was better. (sorry)

She’s ready to fetch her ball!
