Maggie

Health update:

Maggie is coughing a lot these days, and not eating much.  Her foster mom makes sure that at a minimum the pain medication goes down even if Maggie can’t take in much else at that meal.  Because her foster mom telecommutes for work, Maggie has company, and we’re grateful that she’s not alone.

Maggie went on her first walk tonight, and boy oh boy, does she sure have some get up and go left!! Being out of doors with all of the new smells and sights seemed quite invigorating to this golden girl, and she set a brisk pace that had her foster mom running to keep up.

Maggie has made herself quite at home here and has adjusted well. She always knows when it’s meal time, and has yet to miss one. Which is fine, being that she was much too skinny when she arrived. She also knows all the creature comforts of home. She loves to snuggle up on the furniture, and loves to steal the armchair as soon as it’s vacated.

She’s a silent stalker, and always on high alert when you leave the room…..unless she’s deep asleep. Which is more often that not.

While we don’t always know much about the dogs that come into our rescue program from shelters, we did have a little bit of information about Maggie.  She was confiscated as part of a neglect case and was subsequently signed over to the shelter by her owner.  We don’t think she was physically abused, but she did come in extremely thin with her ribs and hip/back bones showing.  What a shame that this sweet old girl wasn’t receiving the care she deserved.  Well, she’s getting lots of TLC and good food now!  Won’t you consider giving Maggie a real home for the rest of her life?  She’s not much trouble and is very appreciative of any attention!

Maggie’s got the spirit of an energetic 2 year, contained in a senior body. She likes to play with toys and loves to entertain herself with a tennis ball!

She’s a smart girl too, has learned how to use the doggie door and is taking herself outside now to potty.  She’s been eating good, hearty meals, and her emaciated frame is starting to fill out nicely.

Maggie loves to check out what’s happening in the tree!  Is it a bird?  Maybe a squirrel?
