Nutmeg

Meg had her first walk tonight and did very well overall! It was like a 3 dog sled team with two GSP’s and 1 min pin guiding me along.

The first 50 yards were scary as she zig-zagged in an attempt to see and smell everything at once. Lines tangled everywhere and I seriously looked back to the fading lights of my house in despair. But then we got in sync and all was well…even enjoyable. Meg would bound off and look startled when the leash tightened (yes every time, silly girl) but she did not pull on my arm at all. She is definitely a GSP and every site and sound needs to be inspected … unfortunately that includes the cat that shot out from a car in front of us. She went after it like a side of ribs - not going to be good in a cat home. Her prey drive is VERY strong.

The down side is that she just can not seem to get why she needs to stay on the SAME side of the tree or light post as me…I think it goes back to being startled when the leash tightens…she just forgets it is there. Also, as my robust min pin and 12 year old GSP started to slow down…she was getting her second wind. My 3 dog sled team became a 1 dog sled team … with 3 passengers.

She definitely will be a good dog to walk/run with …she loves to be outdoors and has manners - just needs some fine tuning :) Way to go Megs!!

Meg would also do best to have someone around human or canine to keep her company during the day and night.

Meg is sure benefiting from the TLC in her foster home. She came in with a skin irritation and she is doing much, much better.
